Baked pita chips you can make in about 20 minutes! Great for party food, and an awesome way to save stale pitas you didn’t get around to eating 😉
Baked Pita Chips (Delicious and Easy AF)
Have some stale-but-not-moldy pitas you didn’t get around to eating? Never fear – you can make some super easy and supremely tasty baked pita chips in no time! I have my buddy Bizz to thank for this ‘recipe’.
These pita chips are fantastic to make when you have a craving but no munchies in the house. Serve these babies with my Black Bean Dip with Avocado, Cilantro and Lime, Chickpea Garlic Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, or Vegan Guacamole. You’ll seriously impress your friends at your next party with your cheap AF stale pita rejects. Everyone will be asking you for the recipe and you can wink and act all aloof and mysterious…
It’s a highly sophisticated method.
What you’ll need:
1 bag of stale-but-not-moldy pita chips, white or whole wheat, cut into wedges – $1.25
About 1/3 cup olive oil – .20 cents
Salt, pepper, nooch, garlic powder, or other seasonings – .05 cents
What you do:
1) Pre-heat oven to 350.
2) Slice the pitas into wedges (or small squares if you want to use the pita chips to top your fattoush salad). Place all the wedges back in their original bag. Pour in some olive oil. Then pour in a bit more for good measure. ????
3) Shake that shit like old school shake ‘n bake. Gently massage the pitas until the wedges are oil-coated.
4) Lay out in one layer on a baking stone or baking sheet with parchment paper (I highly recommend investing in a baking stone!). Sprinkle the pitas with salt, seasoning salt, nooch, bbq spice or whatever seasoning makes your little heart happy. Bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes or until the chips are hard to the touch and turning golden.
Repeat every time you screw up and don’t eat your pita before it goes stale.
Total cost: $1.50! That’s way cheaper than a bag of chips, yo.
